| about andrew based in the toronto area, most of andrew martin-smith's experience in the industry has been through his acting work for film and television. on screen, andrew appeared in the movies "tuba girl" (directed by michele muzzi), "hurt" (directed by steve dimarco), and "plain truth" (directed by paul shapiro). other credits include a guest spot on the crime series "blue murder" as well as numerous commercials for canadian and american television. andrew also performed in several professional and community theatre productions while attending the regional arts program at mayfield secondary school where he was a member of the internationally-acclaimed jazz group: the magnetics. in 2000, he founded mayfield's annual student film festival. at the university of toronto, he performs with the school's touring jazz ensemble, onoscatopoeia, and is a member of the film board. in 2002, andrew released his first short video, "sketches", which received acclaim from major international film festivals in new york city, toronto, vancouver, las vegas, and los angeles. he was awarded the genre award at the new york film and video festival for "best student short". "neverland", andrew's second short, was selected to premier at the new york film and video festival in november 2003 where he was, again, awarded the festival's prize for "best student short". "donors", a new 40-minute short written and directed by andrew, is currently being prepared for a release in the spring of 2007. andrew martin-smith is twenty-four years old and working towards a bachelor of arts degree at the university of toronto (majoring in english and philosophy). he has operated as a freelance editor and videographer for the past two years, contracted for a variety of projects, ranging from film trailers to corporate videos and short documentaries. he intends to go on making his own videos for as long as he can afford to do so. contact: andrew@half-inchd.com all works copyright (c) 2005-07 by andrew martin-smith. all rights reserved. |
